http://www.domesticsale.org/index.php???There is an ad that advertises as breeders of St. Bernards and Huskies. It is a small kennel in Wi. , advertising here, and on other sites as freedoglisting.com, etc. First note that the female St. Bernard has had three litters of puppies since June of 2008. Unhealthy for the female. Second, note the picture of the husky puppies (pictures were removed after contact from Frostfire, are the parents of the pups born in October, half brother, half sister, as referenced below by the original breeder of the male/female pair being bred in these ads).) These were not bred by this kennel, they were purchased last year "to breed". False advertising?, and why? Before purchasing a pet, always please follow through and just google or search yahoo by the e-mail name given, can always find stuff out. Just do a yahoo search by the email and you will see when the husky puppies were purchased and from whom potentially, and how many litters this poor female St. Bernard has had. And another note, the husky puppies pictured that were "purchased" elsewhere are due to have puppies this month. The female having the litter is maybe a year old right now. Responsible breeding?

 Shocked
Reference-"Paw Haven Kennels".
"Yes, both pups are from us and if she's breeding them, aside from them being to young, they are also half brother & sister.I did look up her website and noticed she has copied word for word the policies we actually have in the contract she signed when she got the two pups from us. She's even asking the exact same price & deposit as we are."
"I noticed though that she is using pics of the two dogs she got from us taken when they were pups. No pics of past puppies or of the parents now. "(From the breeder of the husky pups Paw Haven kennels has pics of online, the pair that are expecting a litter)
(reference the husky pups, breeding pair that are having a litter in Oct, are half brother and sister, are the pups just purchased from a breeder last year, and are the two she bred) Roll Eyes

A Quality Breeder will provide a list of specific health checks done on adult dogs before they are bred and/or on the puppies before selling them.  Examples might be CERF (eye), OFA (hips, heart), thyroid tests, von Willebrands Disease (blood clotting) and BAER (hearing) as appropriate to the breed. You must know which problems are likely to occur in your breed and what checks should be done. That is why researching the breeds that interest you is SO important.

WARNING:  If the breeder or ads simply say "Vet checked," BEWARE. This statement is too general.

*A good breeder is a member of a local and/or national breed club and registers puppies with a registry. In the U.S., registration with AKC (American Kennel Club), UKC (United Kennel Club), the ARBA (American Rare Breed Association) or the foreign registries - the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) or FCI (Federation Cynologique International) - are considered acceptable registries. Many other registries were started after the AKC instituted the Frequently Used Sires (FUS) requirement which requires DNA certification of a male dog used to sire more than 3 litters in a year or 7 litters in his lifetime.

Some examples of registries that should set off alarms that you are not dealing with a responsible breeder include:
ACA (American Canine Association)
APR (American Purebred Registry)
APRI (America`s Pet Registry Inc.)
ARU (Animal Registry Unlimited)
CKC (Continental Kennel Club)
FIC (Federation of International Canines)
NAPDR (North American Purebred Dog Registry)
USKC (United States Kennel Club)
WKC (World Kennel Club)
WWKC (World Wide Kennel Club)
Please note that some of the registries have similar or the same initials as the older and well established registries. This can cause confusion for consumers. Don't be fooled.
