Saying that the time may come when there will be no dogs if breeders were put out of business (something that is not going to happen) is a very dumb thing to say. There will ALWAYS be dogs and there will always be too many that are unwanted, just because they are not the fancy breed that someone is looking for as a status symbol. Most of the dogs at pounds and shelters are not pedigrees. A lot of people don't want just a "mutt" because it doesn't get them the attention that a popular breed can. I see so many online ads with sweet pictures of babies, cats and dogs, that were ONLY brought into this world just to make a buck. You cannot deny that some of these are sold for an astronomical price, and yet you can go into any shelter and find WONDERFUL,LOVING PETS for less than $100. How anyone can make a great deal of money off of the lives of innocent puppies and kittens that were forced into this world is beyond me. But there will never, ever be a shortage of dogs.
