Hello to All of you thinking of buying a wolf/mini husky mix breed from the breeder in Anza, CA. She advertises puppies starting at $550, more for blue eyes. We purchased a male from her on 2 January 2009. At that time he was just 3 pounds and he needed re-worming. On 7 Jan 09, we took him to the vet for an initial vist, he weighed 3.5 pounds. On 27 March 2009, we took him to the vet for his annual rabies shot and Home Again chip, and he weighed a whopping 32 pounds! He is by no means overweight, on the contrary, he's a lean and powerful animal! His birthdate makes him 4 and a half months old, and he's already well over the 20 to 30 pounds this breeder assured us. The vet estimated his adult weight to be 45 to 50 pounds, so that might be half a full grown wolf but not as advertised. Mind you I have no complaint as to the health or temperment of the dog. Our dissapointment is compounded by the fact that the breeder never sent the documentation she promised, to show initial worming and shots. I'd recommend anyone seeking to do business with her to check the Anza, CA better business office or the applicable county to see if there are any business related complaints.
One other note of caution not related to this breeder: Check local and state laws before telling the vet or county license office this pet is part wolf. In my state, its legal to own one but if they are accused of biting a human, the wolf mix is summarily executed unlike a pit bull that gets a probation and parole.
